Found objects which attract me have to find a place and purpose so often end up in the studio, sometimes taking years to mutate into a piece of work. Anything spherical will find a home in the studio as will most things involving feathers or glass domes. This area of work is only just beginning to form it’s own voice and it’s that of a Victorian cross-dressing naturalist with a darkly humorous bent. What might be an average mass-produced bit of plastic globe today could well be the rare collectors item of the future and so finds it’s way into a dome or museum-like cabinet. Labels, text, taxidermy, and the amateur naturalists collecting instincts all come to play here.
