I routinely work collaboratively – last year with architect Dave Ray on Scavengers Shelter (see Installation) and this year I’m working on a series of drawings with Anna Keleher. These are in response to a call for drawings made under the theme of England Now.
So now I’m emerging from a four month sabbatical from colour, and the result is a childlike delight with my pallet stoked up with thick licks of paint. And there’s the welcome smell of turps and oils which I’ve missed. The timing is good because unlike the winter months, the studio is bearably temperate now and after the spring clean most of the other animals have left.
Colour is going to play a big role in this years work, with colour wheels, rainbows and neon paint getting in on the act. By mid June I hope to have a new section under the paintings of works made over the coming months.
