When I was studying fine art painting at Central St. Martin’s it was frowned on to veer from the painting track into anything three-dimensional or make installations or be interested in digital media – or in fact any other discipline. Thankfully now it’s accepted that not everyone can focus themselves on just one discipline. Every year I now work in collaboration with someone who uses a different medium. In 2011 it was with artist/activist Toni Spencer when we worked on a project about an Oak tree, making a feral food piece for a show at the Centre for Contemporary Arts in Haldon Forest. Then architect Dave Ray and myself made the pheasant feather installation ‘Scavengers Shelter’ for a show in Yarner Woods in 2012. And since late last year I’ve been working with artist Anna Keleher on a series of collaborative drawings.
